One of our favorite toys that the kids had when they were small was a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe. Now that we are grandparents, we wanted to find a Cozy Coupe for Tavi to enjoy when she is visiting. So when Samantha told us about a sale on Cozy Coupes, I jumped online to purchase one. When the box arrived, it seemed smaller than I anticipated. We quickly noted the “some assembly required” comment on the side of the box. As Gene dumped out the contents of the box, I said, “We’re going to need more coffee!”
Tools collected and reloaded on coffee, I told Gene that Nicholas was able to assemble their Cozy Coupe in 40 minutes. No pressure! His response was, “But he had Tavi’s help.” Gene proceeds to lay out parts and tools like he is about to go into surgery. He reads the instructions . . . twice. I, on the other hand, start test fitting random pieces to see if they will go together.
At one point, Gene notices that the Cozy Coupe was pink and had a “Princess” license plate. “What happens if we have a grandson some day?” he asks. I explain to him that the gender neutral Cozy Coups weren’t on sale and Grandma refused to pay the extra $15 for a red one. (Every time I tell Tavi, “Grandma is cheap!”, she starts laughing.) Gene said that there was something politically incorrect about the princess coupe costing less than the other ones. I just shrug.
Forty two minutes later, some assembly has been completed and we have new cup holders! We can’t wait for Tavi’s next visit.
Just as we finished putting the tools away, I got this text from Samantha with Tavi rocking out her new cozy coupe.
