I recently saw a story about an airline that is doing away with boarding passes and using facial recognition to check in passengers.  Seriously?  This will never work.  I have had facial recognition software on my laptop for two years, and it only recognizes me about half the time.  I have tested it’s effectiveness by trying different “looks” when it prompts me to sign in . . . smiling, laughing, glaring at it and making funny faces much to Gene’s amusement.  I’m fairly certain that a frown with a heavy sigh is most effective.  I have even tried bad hair days, wet hair days, make up, sans make up, profile shots, and looking over my glasses.  But the reason I know that the software is fallible, is because recently it didn’t recognize me as I was eating my daily allotment of one bite of chocolate.  If my computer doesn’t recognize me when I’m taking a bite of chocolate — something I treat myself each and every day — then there is no way I’m going to clear the scanner at an airport!
