While we were in charge of our two oldest grandkids, I decided to dress up their lunch and make rocket pockets (wraps) for them for lunch. I should have foreseen trouble as I was dealing with a 2.5 year old and 5 year old. Ori (2.5) took one look, yelled “NO!” and proceeded to take his apart. Tavi (5) reached over and helped herself to Ori’s “moon cheese” and said, “Ori only likes yellow cheese,” and asked for more radishes and bell pepper. In my defense, the yellow cheese was square and just wouldn’t work as a moon.
I do want to give a shout out to Gene Lariviere for cutting carrots into star shapes and figuring out the geometry for the rocket fins. He still has surgical skills!!! I think this lunch would go over better with older kids. PS. The hotdog mummies didn’t go over well either, LOL Thank you Hy-vee for the great ideas. Maybe you should include an appropriate age range.
