Laughs After Cancer

My Happy Place
Several years ago, I met a wonderful woman named Trudie. She learned that I was going to start treatment for breast cancer and she offered to help me in any way she could. Unlike many offers of help people made, she meant it. She contacted me several weeks into...

Dude!
Day 2. Casper to Cody, WY We took the opportunity to take a two mile walk on the Platte River Parkway trail, (oddly enough along the Platte River) through Casper, and enjoyed the cool morning and crisp air. It was a bit of a climb in some places, but it was paved...

Day 1 (or is it Day 13?) Great Montana Travel Log
Gene and I have been trying to get to Montana for about five years now, and something always comes up and we put it off for another year. This year, he had a meeting scheduled in Colorado Springs and I suggested we spend a couple of weeks with Steven, then head north...

The Masked Bandit
I don’t know about the rest of you, but the first time I wore a mask into the grocery store, I felt like a bank robber. I remember looking around and watching people do a double take when they saw me, and feeling uncomfortable. To make matters worse, Gene sat out in...

Itsy Bitsy Spider
Itsy Bitsy Spider After a beautiful yesterday morning, we stopped at the end of the driveway to pick up the mail and paper. Gene Lariviere got out, gathered the mail, opened the door of the truck and handed me the mail and got in and closed the door. I unfolded the...

Postal Emergency

Known Traveler Number
Note: I'm posting this on a Saturday to give myself a head start on evading questioning. Shortly after we moved to rural Benton County, the local newspaper printed a series of articles about disaster preparedness. The premise of the article was that if there was a...
You Can Write
The first time someone told me I could write I was in 8th grade and my English teacher recommended me for Advanced English. She told me that I had a gift for writing. She also assigned me to be the sports editor for the school newspaper for my 9th grade year. I was...

Scotland Revisited
Gene has been posting photos and his travel log from our trip to Scotland a year ago. I decided to revisit my posts and combine them into a single post. Gene has always dreamed of traveling to Scotland and seeing the countryside. So when he retired a year ago, I...

The Road to Hana
I think I will stick with my theme of travel stories this week, since we are all sheltering at home and dreaming of our next adventure. Once again, my travel enthusiasm got the better of us. Several years ago, my husband and I traded the cold Iowa winter for a week in...
The posts on this page were added at the request of several of my readers who wanted “the fun stories to continue.” Some are dedicated to a friend in her last weeks of life. These posts are a mix of travel adventures and random experiences and are in date order with the newest post on top.
Help Support Breast Cancer Patients
All proceeds from book sales are donated to two local non-profit funds to help breast cancer patients afford diagnosis and care. Virginia Gay Hospital Gifts of Hope provides free mammograms and diagnostic services and is supported by the Benton County Survivors Group; and the Hall-Perrine Hope Fund helps cancer patients pay for emergency needs.
